Code of Conduct and Child Safe Policy
I hereby assume complete and full responsibility for any and all injuries to any person or person, which results in whole or in part from using the toys I borrow from Havelock North Plunket Toy Library. I hereby release the Havelock North Plunket Toy Library from all responsibility in respect of any injury so sustained either outside or on the toy library premises.
I give consent to be contacted by Havelock North Plunket Toy Library with relevant information e.g. newsletters, fundraising activities, and any other relevant correspondence
I acknowledge that the Havelock North Plunket Toy Library reserves the right to visit homes to reclaim overdue toys.
I have read and understood the rules relating to the Havelock North Plunket Toy Library and agree to the terms and conditions of my membership.
A 2-session grace only will be given on toy return after this you will be charged overdue fines.
Overdue toys will incur a fine of $3.00 per week. Persistent lateness in returning toys may result in cancellation of your membership.
Please don’t be embarrassed as this easily happens. Report any missing pieces upon return.
-If a toy is returned with a missing piece, you will be charged a replacement fee of generally $5.00. If the missing piece does turn up, you will be credited upon its return.
If a missing piece causes the toy to be incomplete, you are welcome to buy the toy (and we hope you find the piece at home) or pay to replace it.
-If a Zipit bag is damaged or missing you will also incur a fee.
Depending on size the fee will be between $5.00 - $40 as these Zipit bags are custom made and measure to fit our toys.
No further toys may be borrowed until all fines are paid.
Broken and/or damaged Toys
Toys break even in normal play. Don’t be embarrassed if this happens to you. Please notify us of any damage or broken pieces. It is important to us that our toys remain safe for use by all members.
-If a toy is returned damaged/broken, you may be charged a fee of generally $5.00.
We understand our toys are well used and loved and our committee will consider if additional repair or replacement fees occur on a case-by-case basis.
No further toys may be borrowed until all fines are paid
Care of toys you borrow is your responsibility. Please return them clean and tidy, in the condition you would like to receive them!
A great deal of time and effort from the committee is put into the repair and maintenance of the toys. Your care helps to maintain their condition.
A $5 fine may be charged if toys are brought back un-cleaned, and you will be directed to the wash-up facilities to clean them.
When you are in the library please be aware that each toy is packed and checked in its own container. It would be appreciated that you keep each toy in this condition. Toys must be checked on return by the rostered duty person or librarian.
Caring for Toys
All toys have a contents list. To avoid misunderstandings when you return toys, check the contents of each borrowed item against its list as soon as you get home. Let the library know immediately by email or phone if there are missing or broken pieces.
Please look after the toys that you borrow to ensure their longevity. If any toys are not up to the standard that you expect, please inform one of the Committee Members.
Put toys away if young visitors arrive, unless they are closely supervised. Try restricting use of inside toys to one place or one room to make it easier to find parts when toys are due back.
Please do not exchange library toys with friends even if they are toy library members. All library toys borrowed by you must remain in your home.
Please keep us informed of any change in you address, email or phone number.
If you decide to discontinue your use of the library for any reason, we would appreciate you notifying us.
-There will be no refund of any subs paid.
Roster Duties and Fundraisers
Members who choose Duty membership will be expected to complete at least four duties per year. A roster is sent out every few months and you have the option to swap dates with someone else on the list if it doesn’t suit.
The shift is from 9am – 11.30am. Duty members must be at the Library by 9am for set up and may be required to stay until 11:45am to help pack up (depending on how busy the Library is).
Members on duty are expected to help with tasks such as counting toys in/out, putting them back on the shelves, general tidying of the shelves, and any other odd jobs on the day as directed.
We recommend that members do duty without their children present if possible as the time is too long for most children, and it can be difficult for the parent to focus.
These memberships also require the attendance at the annual stocktake and contribution to fundraisers and events.
Any amendments to the rules will be notified through a newsletter to members.
